Level of accessibility
We aimed for sweetframe.org to meet Israel's Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 5773-2013, and Israeli Standard SI 5568, which is based on WCAG 2.0 level AA, and also aimed at WCAG 2.1 level AA. The site has not yet had a full screen-reader audit, so it may meet the requirements only in part. [Audit date and who carried it out: to be added after the audit]
What we did on this website
- A clear structure: headings in order, marked regions (header, navigation, main content, footer), and a “Skip to content” link at the top of every page.
- Full keyboard navigation, with a clearly visible focus outline.
- Colour contrast checked against WCAG 2.1 AA, and links underlined rather than marked by colour alone.
- Text alternatives for every informative image; pictures of the frame are described in words, including the text shown on them.
- Language and direction set on every page (Hebrew right-to-left, English left-to-right), and on passages and English button names inside a page.
- Responsive layout for phones and computers with no horizontal scrolling, and text that can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
- The site works without JavaScript, with no pop-ups, auto-playing media or flashing content; reduced-motion settings are respected.
- Tables with marked headers, and questions and answers that use the browser's standard disclosure elements.
Accessibility of the frame
- Large, clear text, a Hebrew interface, and an on-screen keyboard in Hebrew and English with a button that shows what was typed.
- Everything can also be set up from a paired phone, with the phone's own text size.
- The frame does not require hearing: it has no sounds you must hear.
- On the glucose card, colour is always accompanied by words (for example “not current”), so colour vision is not needed.
Known limitations
- We tested the site with keyboard navigation, zoom and phones. A full test with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack) is still planned.
- The frame's own touch screen does not work with a screen reader. Everything can also be set up from a paired phone, but the phone settings page has not been tested with a screen reader yet either.
- The family guides are in Hebrew only. The privacy policy, terms of use and this statement are also available in English.
- Instructions for other companies' services (Google Drive, Nightscout) refer to their screens, which we do not control.
